U-Turn at Dulwich Library — the Plough

One long lorry, articulate, dominates the conversation,
first hauls her bulk from left to right, indicating her intention,
perhaps to go down Barry Road. Two lanes of vehicles wait behind,
hanging on her every wordless syllable, and now two more
are halted, speechless, and the lights prevent the motion of
the cross road traffic. Only she, bent at her supple waist, can move,
and slowly turns and doubles back up Lordship Lane,
the impossible achieved. You turn if you want to,
this lady IS for turning.
